McKenzie Lake

Built on the banks of the Bow River and over looking the Fish Creek Provincial Park river valley, this community is named after one of the areas first settlers, Mr. J McKenzie. Development started in 1982 on the community that surrounds this 43 acre lake and the adjacent 20 acre park. The amenities on the park include a Clubhouse for community events, swimming, boating, fishing, tennis courts and skating in the winter. Just down the road is the McKenzie Meadows Golf Club, a public golf course, a favorite with south Calgary golfers.

The community offers a wide array of programs for the area residents Scouting programs, community based youth baseball, soccer and hockey programs, dance classes, martial arts, exercise classes and drop in men’s basketball are just a few of the programs that are offered through the community association. There is an outdoor skating rink in the winter and lots of events like stampede events, jellybean dances, and New Years and Xmas dances.

Just across Deerfoot Trail is the South Trail Crossing Shopping Centre home to Canadian Tire, Superstore, Walmart and a full array of restaurants and specialty big box stores. Gold’s Gym has a state of the art facility in the area with a diverse program plan for the fitness buff.
