It was an amazing night of music, food and friendship at the University of Calgary Theatre on Monday night as the AHEPA Family, The Broken Plate Restaurants and the Alefantis Family sponsored an evening of music to benefit FARA and the search for a cure for Friedreich's Ataxia. This debilitating disease has recently touched the Greek community in Calgary and they rallied to raise as much money as possible to aid in researching a treatment and hopefully a cure. Dana and I were very grateful to be invited to attend this event by our good friend Diane Polesello on behalf of the Alefantis family.

The evening started with an awe inspiring array of food prepared by the talented culinary team from The Broken Plate. As usual, they out did themselves with everything from Thai Chicken in single serving take out boxes to Lobster Claws and my personal favorite, the Duck Cigar's. There was also an excellent...

Got an email this morning from my buddy Rob Hilditch of the Joey's Only group of companies, telling me he is growing a moustache (Texas handlebar with a soul patch I was later informed) to raise money for Prostate Cancer research. So after I stopped shaking with laughter and found my Blackberry on the floorboard of my truck, (all the while trying not to drive off the road) I fired up the laptop and donated $50 bucks to this physically impossible, yet very good cause on behalf of Rob's efforts.

Now we are all aware that Prostate Cancer is not a laughing matter (Rob's face with a handle bar is an entirely different kettle of fish) and this is something that has touched both Rob and I in our families. I would love to be able to join Rob in his quest to raise as much money as possible, but I have 2 problems,

1) As most of you know I have a pretty healthy Goatee and no issues with its growth.

I Am Happy to Announce Another Sale at 227 11 AVENUE SW in Calgary

I am proud to announce another Sale at 227 11 AVENUE SW in Calgary.
Best Value For A Restaurant I Have Had In Years!! Rent is only $2250 a month! The Modern Group of Restaurants is selling their "burger passion project" to focus on their other operations. The name is not included in this sale, they want you to bring your concept and make this location your own. This is an easy way to get into the restaurant business, it is fully equiped and in a high traffic, high density area that is perfect for delivery and take out. You could do Burgers, Sandwiches, Wraps, Shawarma...the possibilities are endless! The space is only a couple of years old so the equipment is in great shape and you could adjust the food offering to other formats if you would like, you just need to talk to the landlord. It has a fully vented kitchen and is counter service with common eating area and common washrooms. This is a low maintenance operation for the owner. This is the most cost effective way to open your first restaurant, especially if you have a concept in mind or have been doing popups! **The Landlord already has a couple of "Asian influenced" concepts, so they are not accepting any more at this time in order to maintain a diverse offering for the customers. The Landlord is looking for "a food hall stall that sells sandwiches, salads and/or grain bowls, some type of western style food concept or keep the existing burger concept" but would need the owner/operator to have prior ownership and/or operating experience.

Here Is A New Listing That I Just Posted In 110 3 AVENUE W in Cochrane

Here is a new listing that I am happy to post in 110 3 AVENUE W in Cochrane.
My Greek Plate is one of Cochrane’s most beloved eating destinations. They have built a rock solid reputation for high quality Greek/Mediterranean cuisine, a warm friendly family atmosphere and great service. The restaurant is well located in Downtown Cochrane, in a quaint standalone building with 14 parking stalls out back and lots of street parking. It is walking distance from Main Street, with 30 seats inside and 35 seats on the fantastic patio out front. They operate 7 days a week, but the hours could be expanded to include lunch mid week if you wanted to. The rent is very reasonable for a stand alone building, which is so important to the success of a restaurant these days. The restaurant has been booked out for private events, weddings and the like on many occasions, because of it’s size and warm atmosphere it is popular for such occasions. This is a great opportunity for a young chef or restauranteur who is energetic and enjoys the small town lifestyle.

Location, Location, Location! Established in April 2001, this is a very busy and profitable local community Grab & Go coffee shop that offers an extensive coffee & tea menu, 8 flavours of scoop ice cream & milkshakes, daily fresh baked large over the top bran & oatmeal muffins, a variety of baking, BIG breakfast bagels, outsourced local gluten-free baking, savoury pocket pies and more, all with genuinely friendly customer service. They are open 7 days a week, from 7:30am-3:30pm. They have a large loyal and long-standing customer base they call family. They are well known for their great-tasting coffee roasted for over 21 years by Noble Tree Coffee Roasters of High River, an extensive signature drink menu, handmade from scratch muffins and the genuinely friendly customer service. The Owners have efficiently set up the cafe to run itself with the dedicated Team of staff members in place. The Owners are often vacationing 1-3 weeks at a time with no concerns and are not working inside the coffee shop. The staff are very valued and are involved in all of the decisions made at the cafe. Therefore, they are worthy of their positions and very dedicated to their team, Owners and valued customers. They work together to develop social media content, create specialty drinks and promotions, and ensure the shop is running at its peak performance.
